Mail Spam Explosion"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Is it just me or is everybody else getting bombarded with spam on their Yahoo! Mail accounts?  It seems like ever since they announced their &#8216;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.globetechnology.com\/servlet\/story\/RTGAM.20031021.gtyahoooct21\/BNStory\/Technology\/\" title=\"Yahoo Mail delivers new spam measures\">new spam measures<\/a>&#8216;  the spam has at least doubled.   I&#8217;m now getting about 200 spams a day.  Every time I go into my account I have to empty the bulk mail folder because I&#8217;m running out of storage space.  This is enough to make me want to give up on e-mail.<\/p>\n<p>I have a couple of theories on what&#8217;s happening here.  Either the spammers have taken Yahoo!&#8217;s dummy e-mail address ploy as a challenge or Yahoo! has tweaked the basic filtering to &#8216;encourage&#8217; people to upgrade to the paid Mail Plus which has &#8216;improved spam guard&#8217;.  (Why do I think it&#8217;s the latter?)<\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;m just glad that my real e-mail address (through my school&#8217;s alumni association) barely gets any spam at all (there I go jinxing myself).  I feel bad for people who get this much spam in their main e-mail account.
