I was shocked and saddened to see the news of Aaron’s death<\/a> this morning. Although I didn’t know Aaron personally I have read his blog<\/a> several times over the last two years. Part of me is sad because we’ve lost another young black man senselessly but this also stings because it’s bringing up memories of one of my best friends who also took his own life. (Fro that reason, please excuse the rambling that follows. All of a sudden I’m having trouble thinking straight.) Suicide is all too prevalent in the Black community<\/a> even if we refuse to admit it<\/a>. We all need to be more aware of what our friends and family members are feeling and thinking. <\/p>\n

My deepest condolences go out to Aaron’s friends and family. For those of you looking for understanding of and coping with suicide may I suggest a book which a dear friend gave me by Earl A. Grollman called ‘Suicide: Prevention, Intervention, Postvention<\/a>‘ <\/p>\n
