Oh boy, it’s really on now! – Malone makes move, heads to Lakers.
Malone showed strong interest in the Lakers from the start of the free-agent negotiations on July 1, to a degree that the Hall of Fame-bound power forward is apparently willing to join the dethroned champions for a mere $1.5 million — a cut of almost $18 million from his 2002-03 salary.
The Lakers better pray that Kidd doesn’t go to Dallas or San Antonio.
A couple of things come to mind.
1. If they win a championship will everyone sort of “de-value” their rings (Payton and Malone) because they joined a team that would already be a favorite to win a title. The respect factor would be greater if they had done it with their original teams
2. Will Payton and Malone approach the Lakers as Shaq and Kobe’s team and willing play a supporting role or will they expect to be on equal ground with Shaq and Kobe
This obviously puts pressure on them to not only win, but dominate. And we all know having all the best talen doesn’t always make the best team. I’d love to see Dallas pickup Mourning and Kidd to counter the Lakers… That would be fun to watch.
One more reason to hate the Lakers…
Mourning is signing with the Nets if Kidd re-signs.

After 17 years in the league EVERY single interview HE does he speaks and sounds like a back-water, illiterate HICK, you would think in almost think that in almost 20 years he would actually LEARN TO SPEAK IN COMPLETE, OR CORRECT SENTENCES!?!? But no, the idiocy continues, and whats worst you can tell he’s PROUD of himself and his accomplishments?!? I too hope he suffers, badly, arthritis, I realize he’s already stupid enough but it will only worsen with age..
