I Finally Got a GMail Account

Big up to Ding Deng for hooking me up with a gmail invitation. (My commenting on other people’s blogs has finally paid off.) Unlike many, I wasn’t in a huge rush to lock in a user ID. With a last name as unique as mine (only 6 of us in the United States), I’ve never had a problem getting the ID that I wanted anywhere.

Look for me to put some invites up for grabs if and when I get some of my own.

Update: My thanks also go out to Timo who just hooked me up with another invitation. I’ve passed that one along to my brother.

  1. now yahoo is offering 100mb. I have had gmail for a while and well, it is far inferior to yahoo. thank goodness for competition.

  2. I agree with you Yigra… for now. I was all over the competition thing a while back. If nothing else, I have to be thankful to Google for making Yahoo get their act together. But GMail does have a lot of work to do. They need to provide address book syncing, some kind of new message notification (I can see that happening via the Google Toolbar, or maybe even some kind of Google Instant Messaging app.) and (free) POP/IMAP access would be nice. I doubt if we’ll see the POP thing though b/c then we wouldn’t be getting served ads.

All of my web mail accounts are basically for BS anyway, so I’ll gladly squat on my gmail account until they add those features. Than maybe I’ll point things to gmail instead of Yahoo.

  3. heh, I’ll put my gratutis beg for a gmail invite 🙂 I’ve loved everything google has done, so I wanna be in on the bleeding edge of the google web dagger…
