Servin’ Em Up

I just got word that one of my boys from college has stepped up his blogging. He’s a budding author, so look for his first book soon. In the mean time, you can sample his material at ServinEmUp. The blog contains “Social Commentary, Fantasy Sports, Short Stories & Essays”. So give Dave some love &… Continue reading Servin’ Em Up

I’m a BlogCritic!

I’ve just accepted an invitation to write for the BlogCritics site, so now you can find content from me over there too. (Thanks to my brother for telling me about BlogCritics.) I only visited BlogCritics for the first time last week. I posted a response to one of their articles that I took issue with.… Continue reading I’m a BlogCritic!

Another Recipe Blog

OK, we know about The Red Kitchen, but I’ve just stumbled upon (via Wang Dang Doodle and RedHeadDread) another (group) recipe blog, Full Bellies. I’m definitely gonna have to try the Pão De Queijo (what do you know about that?), the Black Beans (hmmm… time to make some Feijoada!), and the Best Blueberry Pancakes.

Blog Comments Debate

There’s been a debate going on the last few days over the usage of comments on blogs. I basically agree with Venomous Kate’s view on whether blogs need comments. And Unbound Spiral adds some good, uh, comments. But I’d like to add a little twist. There’s a serious problem with TrackBack. Even for the Movable… Continue reading Blog Comments Debate

Technorati Link Cosmos

I just implemented WizBang!’s Technorati Link Cosmos code into this blog. But Kevin, how about losing the ‘open link in new window’ code? I find that to be very annoying. If a user wants to open a link in a new window, it’s easy enough to right-click or SHIFT-click and do that. Or make the… Continue reading Technorati Link Cosmos

The Red Kitchen

Here’s a very cool blog that I just discovered via Kadyellebee and Yahoo!’s Pick of the Day — The Red Kitchen is a group blog for sharing ‘favorite recipes, kitchen tips, and related links’. The first two recipes I see look damn good: Grilled Salmon with Nectarine Salsa and Grilled Salsa Lime Chicken, not to… Continue reading The Red Kitchen

The Web, Independents, and Everything

Here’s an excellent article I just found via MovableBLOG. If you have any interest in web publishing you must read Daring Fireball’s Independent Days article. It covers several topics: Google’s AdSense, the poor design of most corporate web sites, why there’s so much sensationalism in (corporate) online reporting, etc. Here’s but a small sample: The… Continue reading The Web, Independents, and Everything

Book Club that Blogs

This book club, Zuly’s Reading Room, looks like a great idea: Zuly’s Reading Room is a place to talk about books that you’re reading. We don’t all read the same book at the same time. Instead, we just talk about the book we’re reading at the present time. If other people have read it, they… Continue reading Book Club that Blogs

AOL’s Journals

Here’s a review of AOL’s coming blogging tool, AOL Journals. It looks like they’re doing it the right way. They’re even including RSS/XML (hello Blog*Spot). The article also has some interesting thoughts on the future of blogging.
